Wilma Ruth Miller, 85, of Louisville, reunited with Bill, her husband of 58 years, on April 26, 2023. In addition to Bill, she was preceded in death by her sisters Joyce Branson and Josephine Potter.
Ruth was filled with homespun wisdom. A good listener and a fine conversationalist. She enjoyed neighborhood walks, reading romantic novels, and watching movies, especially those starring Robert Duvall. Conversely, she did not enjoy playing movies on her frustrating DVD player. Besides being the matriarch of family meals, she was a master of cornbread casserole and just about any other home cooked item that might make Cracker Barrel blush. She toiled in the garden and watched birds feast at the feeder, her green thumb almost as impressive as her purple heart earned for the bravery of riding in the passenger seat with Bill behind the wheel.
Ruth is survived by her children: Bill (Lynn), Jennifer Rensel (Bryan), and Elizabeth Sedelmeier (Kevin). Arguably most importantly, MeMaw had six grandchildren: Shelby Sandefur (Jacob), Madison Miller, Jack and Brady Rensel, and Lukas and Mason Sedelmeier. Also left are sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends, old and new. Saying she left doesn’t seem appropriate because she will remain in the hearts of those who knew her thanks to the love and kindness she shared.
Visitation will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway on Monday, May 1st at 10 am followed by funeral service at 1 pm.
The scene is set; Bill turns off Johnny Cash and plays John Denver for Ruth as they swing on that big front porch in the sky.
