Walter "Bud" Cubbage Jr.

June 23, 1945 — November 12, 2021

Louisville

Walter Ray Cubbage Jr., 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2021. Walter (Bud) was born on June 23, 1945 to Walter and Josephine Cubbage in Washington D.C. After Bud graduated from Northwestern High School in 1963, he went on to study Art at Corcoran Art Institute. He kickstarted his career at the Washington Star as a commercial artist. While there, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and served at the Pentagon as a photographer until 1973. Following his service to his country, Bud continued his nearly thirty year career in pre-press and printing work, eight years of which were at Bearing Precious Seed in Milford, Ohio, a Bible printing ministry. Only Heaven will tell of the souls won by the sowing of the Word of God and the impact of his faithful years of service. In 1980, Bud met Cheryl (Cherry) in Huntingtown, Maryland, and they married later that year. Bud and Cherry went on to have 3 children, Anna, Sarah, and Andrew (Brookelyn) and were married for over 40 years. In 2013, Bud retired and spent his time painting, gardening, spoiling his grandson, Luke, and enjoying his family and dogs whom he loved with all his heart. Everyone who knew Bud, was blessed by his kind and generous spirit, and knew he was a man of deep and abiding faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife, Cherry; children, Anna, Sarah, Andrew (Brookelyn); grandson, Luke; his sister, Dorothy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18 from 4-7pm, and funeral services will be on Friday, November 19 at 11am. Both the visitation and funeral will be held at Cornerstone Community Church, 10600 Lower River Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40272. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Bud’s memorial fund whose link is provided below. Any memorial gifts or flowers should be sent to Cornerstone Community Church.
