Walter Tarter

May 7, 1931 — June 19, 2018

Walter Mason "Bud" Tarter, 87, of Louisville, Ky., passed into eternal rest June 19th, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Bud is survived by his daughters, Deb Shipman (Oscar) and Jeanene Whittaker (Tom); son, Scott Tarter; granddaughters Amy Minton (Jason), Mary Beth Bramer, and Leah Tarter; great-grandchildren Jocelyn and Mason Minton; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Patricia Belcher (Ricky) and Sarah Stallings (Anthony).
A Navy veteran, Bud proudly served in the Korean War and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5421, and Shively Masonic Lodge. A beloved family man, Bud always had a song in his heart, a smile on his lips, and a hug for whomever was near. Those who knew him will cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 pm at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or Hosparus of Louisville.
