Sarah Jane Hert

Sarah Jane Hert, 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023.  She was born on March 2, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Albert and Elenora Atzinger.

Sarah married the love of her life, Robert "Herkie" Hert, on Derby Day, 1961.  They have been blessed with a wonderful marriage since.  Sarah was a wonderful, loving mother and was always there for her children while growing up.  She would volunteer to work BINGO at her children's school when they were young and was coined the nickname "Sarah the Baptist" by the Priest at the church.  Sarah was known to be extremely crafty and could even sew outfits for her daughter, Denise.  She loved watching game shows and was gifted at baking and decorating cakes.  Sarah loved her family immensely and will be missed by all that knew her.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elenora Atzinger; her son, Robert "Bobby" Hert; her sisters, Molly, Elizabeth "Bettye", and Geraldine; and her brothers, Coleman, Sebert, and Logan "Sonny".

Left to cherish Sarah's memory is her loving husband, Robert "Herkie" Hert; her daughter, Denise Pittman; her brothers, Ronnie Atzinger and Buddy Atzinger; her grandchildren, Renee Villatoro (Adam) and Jordan Durbin (DJ); her great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jacob, Avery, Eliana, Hunter and Eliza; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.  

At Sarah's request there will be no services.
