Phyllis Atkins

Phyllis E. Atkins, 65, loving wife to M. Gene Atkins, passed away on Monday January 16, 2017 at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on March 31, 1951 to the late Joseph and Beatrice Davis Ford in Louisville.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lisa Ruhe and Wanda J McGuire.
Phyllis worked as a receptionist for 39 years for Preston Poultry.
Besides her husband she is survived by her son, Wayne Higdon along with brothers, Ronnie Ford (Karen) and Butch Ford (Lillian), along with grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Jared Atkins, great-grandchildren, Mattie and Jase Atkins and great-nephew, Draden Dorsey.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-7 pm at the funeral home.
