Mary Ann Dougherty, 86, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on August 27, 2023. She was born on October 2, 1936, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late William Franklin and Alice Catherine (Miller) Embry.
Mary Ann had a strong faith in God, and was a dedicated member of Beechland Baptist Church for many years. Mary Ann graduated from Valley High School. She was a special needs bus driver for 20 years with JCPS, which showed the level of care and compassion that she had for others. Mary Ann loved driving the kids and making an impact in their young lives. For many years she owned her own business, Classic Interiors, which was an extension of her talents within her home. Mary Ann always maintained an immaculately designed home, keeping up with all the current design trends. She was one of the most caring, considerate and compassionate people you could ever meet, and was the best hostess for gatherings, always accommodating everyone and making sure they were fed. Mary Ann was a skilled baker and made sure to show her heart to her family by always baking each one their very own homemade birthday cake, which has left the entire family with years of memories. The greatest accomplishment of Mary Ann's life was the family her and her husband, Donald, of 68 years built. The memories of fun, compassion and love that they gave their children and grandchildren will last them throughout their lives, Mary Ann will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Donald Dougherty, in 2021; and her brother, Thomas Embry.
