Loretta Ewing

February 5, 1928 — December 25, 2016

Loretta Ewing, 88, a devout Catholic, passed away early Christmas Day.

Born 1928, St. Croix, Indiana. She was a fiercely independent woman and a hard worker. Loretta retired as head teller at Bank of Louisville after 40 years of service and went on to become a familiar face for decades at Churchill Downs working in the money room until her retirement in the early 2000's. Loretta was an active woman until her final days enjoying water aerobics at the Southwest YMCA and attending Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.

She is predeceased by her son, Kenneth Ewing; survived by her daughter, Judy Franklin (Larry); grandchildren, Brandy Corbin (Scott), Ashlee Colville, Christian White (Matthew), Hardy Bidwell; and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Treyton Oak Towers, the staff at Norton hospital and Hosparus for their support during her final days.

Visitation is Tuesday, December 27, 12-6 pm, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.

A memorial Mass and funeral will be held Wednesday, December 28, 10:00 am at Mt. Carmel Church, 5505 New Cut Rd, Louisville, KY.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
