James W. Shacklette, Sr.

James "Buddy" Wilbert Shacklette, Sr., 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023.  He was born on September 17, 1942 to the late James Henry and Dorothy Marie (Camp) Shacklette, in Louisville, Kentucky.

James was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  He worked for many years as a janitor at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital.  James married the love of his life, Sylvia, in 1971, and they were blessed with many decades of love until her passing in 2012.  Buddy was an amazing husband and example of love to his family, always taking excellent care of Sylvia.  He was an amazing cook and enjoyed making delicious meals for his family to enjoy.  James was known to be a quiet man, but his heart was enormous and loved with every bit of it.  His quiet spirit and love will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Preceding James in death was his cherished wife, Sylvia Shacklette; his parents; his son, Victor Shacklette; and his brother, Earl Shacklette.

Left to cherish the memories of James' life are his sons, Kenneth Breckenridge, Clint Breckenridge, and James Shacklette, Jr.; his brother, John Shacklette; his 15 grandchildren; along with many extended family members.

A funeral service will be held to honor James at 2PM on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway, with interment to follow in the cemetery.  Friends may call on the family Tuesday from Noon until service time at the funeral home.
