Frances Louise Downey, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2024. She was born a twin on March 19, 1942, to the late Charles and Mary Haysley, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Frances was a natural caregiver and showed her love by taking care of others, and she did that very well. She worked for years at a daycare taking care of children, and also took care of others as they were aging. Frances loved feeding everyone as well, and was an excellent cook. She had a heart of gold and loved her family with all of her heart. Her favorite activity was shopping at Kroger each day. Frances was always a bargain shopper and enjoyed yard sales. She loved playing BINGO and lottery scratch off tickets, but poker was her game of choice. Her generous, loving heart will be her lasting legacy.
Preceding Frances in death was her parents, Charles Walter Haysley, Jr. and Mary Frances (Mudd) Haysley; her husband, Jasper Downey, Sr.; her son, Timothy Wayne Thome; and her brothers, Melvin Ray, Charles Arthur "Shorty", Robert Lee, Carol Russell; her twin brother, Franklin Lewis; and her sister, Christine Pearl.
Frances is survived by her siblings, Sylvia Geraldine, Shirley Jean, Anna Catherine, Barbara Joan, and Florence; her children, Connie Marie Benson, Laura Lynn Watts, and Toni Renea Tucker; her 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; along with numerous extended family members.
A funeral service to honor Frances will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway, with Chaplain Doug Tribolet officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be private on Friday.
