Joyce Gathof

Catherine Joyce Culver Gathof, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Joyce was born on July 8, 1941, in New Hope, Kentucky.  She was a UK basketball fanatic, never missing a game.  Joyce enjoyed reading, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, playing card games, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was a most loving mother and will be greatly missed.

Joyce was predeceased by her father, Michael Orville Culver; her mother, Mary Catherine Culver (Bryant); her husband of 50 years, James "Jim" Kenneth Gathof; her daughter, Catherine Marie Bucher (Gathof); her sisters, Anna Catherine "Dot" Clan, Mary Agnes DeWitt, and Mary Cecilia Gibbs; her brothers, Joseph "Joe" Orville Culver, James "Jim" Monroe Culver, Robert "Bob" Bryant Culver, Joseph "Frankie" Francis Culver and infant William Culver.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Wooldridge (Jim); her sons, Kenny Gathof (Stephanie) and Kevin Gathof (Kim); her son-in-law, Steven Bucher; her grandchildren, Jared Gathof, Jacob Gathof, Michael Gathof, Matthew Gathof, Amanda Wooldridge and Ethan Bucher; her sisters, Gertrude Wright and Phyllis Ann Burt; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held to honor Joyce at 10AM on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway, with Rev. Rodney Alexander officiating.  Friends may call on the family on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 2PM until 7PM at the funeral home.
