Carson Chumbley

September 8, 1927 — March 5, 2017

Carson Irl Chumbley, 89, of Louisville, passed away peacefully March 5, 2017.
One of 13 children, Carson was born September 8, 1927 in Lula, KY. An Army veteran of World War II, Carson then became a Project Manager for Wehr Construction where he spent his career of 38 years. A man of faith, Carson enjoyed reading his Bible and previously served as Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent for West End General Baptist Church and was a member of the Community General Baptist Church at the time of his passing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Peter Lee and Nettie Belle Chumbley, several siblings and his beloved wife of over 52 years, Nancy Elizabeth Bunch Chumbley.
Carson is survived by 2 nieces who cared for him, 3 remaining siblings, 4 daughters, and host of other relatives. A special thanks is extended to Essex Nursing and Rehab for the excellent care Carson received these last few years and where he made many friends. Special thanks is also due Hosparus of Louisville for their care and compassion during his final days.
There will be a celebration of Carson's life with prayer and an immediate burial to follow on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 am until time of service.
