Raymond Baxter

March 6, 1925 — December 29, 2015

Raymond Baxter, 90, entered eternal life December 29, 2015. He was born in Bowling Green; he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 10/1941 till 3/1942 and worked at Mammoth Cave, KY, building pathways. He was drafted into the Army 10/1943-2/1946; he served with Co. A133 Infantry 34th Division and took part in the Rome-Arno and North Apennines Campaigns. He had great memories of driving the jeep for Major Leidy in Italy. In 1948, he married Estelle Cowles and they moved to Louisville, both getting hired by Philip Morris. He retired after 35 years as a machinist. During retirement he loved to travel out west, making numerous trips visiting his daughter and grandsons in Utah and the casinos. It was important to him to be baptized earlier this year by his son, Scott, at Southeast Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his love Estelle.
He is survived by his daughters Jane Simmons (Scott) and Pam Baxter, and son Scott Baxter (Lisa), grandsons, Brandon and Rob Willis, Nick and Sean Gibson, and granddaughters, Lindsey, Meredith, and Heather Baxter, three great-grandsons, Eli, Camden, and Corbin along with his sister , Opal Davis, of Bowling Green and many loved nieces and nephews.
You have served your country, friends, wife and family well. Your work on Earth is done. Take it easy Paison and Daddy; enjoy your Heavenly life back with Mom, your family, and friends.
