Gloria Ann 'Annie' Carrier

August 27, 1934 — August 4, 2022

Louisville

On Wednesday, August 4, 2022, Gloria Ann 'Annie' Rafferty Carrier was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at the age of 87. She was a dedicated, faithful, loving wife, and an always supportive and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was born on August 27, 1934 in Louisville, KY and peacefully passed away on at her home in Shepherdsville, KY after after struggling with an incurable lung disease.

Gloria was an educator and a lover of people and of books.  She taught elementary school for several years and, after receiving her Master’s degree, became a school librarian, the career from which she retired.  She also was a librarian at her church until she retired from that position.

The two most important and loved things in her life were her relationship with Jesus and with her family.  She was a faithful member of Little Flock Baptist Church where people have used the terms Godly, generous, gracious, beautiful, special, supportive, precious and always smiling to describe her.  She was faithful to spend time with God every day, loved His word and spending time talking with Him. She loved spending time with her family – whether it was a  holiday or special occasion,  a quick visit or a hug and kiss at church, she wanted her family to be near her and wanted all of her family to know and love Jesus as much as she did. She was very dedicated to praying for each family member every day as well as being a strong cheerleader and supporter of each, always looking for and encouraging each to do and be their best.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Rafferty, her mother, Lela Rafferty and her brother, James Rafferty.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Dale Carrier, her loving daughters Lynn Rhodea (Joseph) and Carole McCullough (Lewis), her precious grandsons Matthew McCullough (Emily) and Timothy and the light of her life great-granddaughter Annslee McCullough.

At her wishes, no funeral is planned.  She will be entombed at Louisville Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.  A Memorial Service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 27 (her 88th birthday) at 1:00 PM at Little Flock Baptist Church, 5500 N Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to:
