Debra Noonan

Debra Lynn Noonan, 63, passed away peacefully with family, on Friday January 29, 2021 at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville. Debbie was born on January 5, 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter to the late Sidney and Joy Simpson.

She grew up in the Portland neighborhood with her siblings Gloria Elmore, Donnie Simpson, Johnny Simpson, and Cindy Lewis, attending Portland Christian School. She went on to earn Nursing Degrees from both JCC and Indiana Wesleyan. Debbie spent her nursing career working for Norton Healthcare in Louisville and was well known for her smile, kindness, work ethic and take-charge attitude. In 2007, she received the Norton’s Good Samaritan Award for her caring spirit, generosity, and charitable endeavors.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Michael Noonan, her daughters, Lindsey Nicklies and Bobbie Jo Clary and her stepchildren Jennifer Noonan and Michael Noonan.

For Debbie, family was everything. She was whom everyone leaned on for love, support, and advice. She was loud, opinionated, and able to tell you exactly what she thought while nurturing and comforting you at the same time. Her smile, her laugh and her presence filled the room. She loved margaritas, chips and salsa, trips to the beach and yelling during U of L sporting events. She longed to be a grandmother her whole life and really enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren with toys, gifts and ALL the desserts.  Throughout her 20-year battle with cancer, she showed such strength, courage and a relentless fight that baffled even doctor’s expectations.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the visitation and funeral service will be for immediate family only.  All are welcome at the gravesite on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 am, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40216.
